1. Location
Finding the best location is one of the biggest decisions you will need to make when choosing an RV Park. Determining the type of climate you would like to live in is an important factor when choosing which part of the country to travel to. If you’re a snowbird and looking for warmer weather you would head to the south or if you like the four seasons and colder weather, perhaps a northern location is more suitable.
2. Things to do nearby
Another thing to consider when choosing a location, is how you want to spend your time while you are away. Choosing a location near the water or popular attractions are important things to consider when determining your location. If you have some activities planned or things you would like to do while traveling, pick an RV park that is close to your desired activities. Map out the distance between the park you’re considering and the activities you’d like to do. For example, if you like to golf, check to see if there is golf in the area and how close it is. If you like to fish, choose a place that is close to a body of water or is a distance you are comfortable traveling to to participate in the activities of your choosing.
3. Cost
Calculating the cost of your RV stay is an important decision to make when choosing an RV park. Be sure to compare what you will get for the total cost of your stay. When comparing RV parks, make sure to compare what is included in the site rental cost. Consider where you will spend most of your time while visiting and which amenities you are willing to pay extra for. Once you have determined what is important to you and how much you are willing to spend, you can find the park that best meets your needs.
4. Reviews
When looking at the reviews, be sure to look at the individual reviews and not just the overall rating as sometimes the rating is not an accurate reflection of the park. If there are several reviews, look for common themes that people seem to enjoy or things that people didn’t like about the park. This will give you an idea of what to expect if you choose this park. It is also helpful to see how the owner has responded to negative reviews. If there was a problem, look at how it was resolved and this will be a good indicator of what kind of service you can expect when visiting there yourself.
5. Web Presence
Once you’ve narrowed down your search, checking out their website is helpful to determine whether it will be a good fit or not. Take a few moments to navigate their site and gather some information to help you figure out if this is a place you could spend some time. When you are reading through the website, look at what amenities and activities they offer, pet regulations, and things to do nearby. If you still have questions, use the contact us page to find a convenient way to contact them for more information.
6. Desired Experience
When choosing an RV park, it is helpful to know what kind of experience you are looking for. If you’re outgoing and want to make new friends, find a park that has a lot of activities with a sense of community to satiate your social side. If you’re looking for a place to relax, look for a place with a pool and hot tub with space to layout and enjoy the sun. If there are any particular activities you like to participate in, check the park’s website or give them a call to see if those activities are available while you stay. Be sure to check into any additional costs for activities, as this may also be a factor in your selection process. When looking at different parks, be sure to take into account available activities, cost, and environment.
7. Amenities
All RV parks are not created equal. Be sure to check out what amenities are available and what additional costs may be associated with them. If you’re looking to relax poolside in the sun, you will want to make sure they have a pool area with lounge chairs for your comfort. If you are planning to stay an extended amount of time, you may want to find an RV park that has on-site laundry available. And if you are looking for additional amenities, such as WiFI, check out their website to see what they have to offer and at what cost.
8. Environment
In addition to the experience you are hoping for, the environment can play a huge part in the enjoyment of your trip. If you want to be social, find an RV park that offers group activities. Many parks have common areas for people to gather, social events or even special live entertainment.
9. Activities
Determine what activities you would like to participate in. Whether you enjoy shuffleboard, horse shoes, dancing or BINGO, be sure to choose an RV park with activities you enjoy. Some RV parks offer days trips to go fishing, go to casinos, cruises, golfing and nearby cities.
10. Pet Regulations
Traveling with pets can be a hassle, but it doesn’t have to be. Before you leave, check out the size and breed restrictions and amount of pets allowed. Be sure to ask if there is an additional cost to bring your pet(s) and what the rules are for leashes and waste removal. It’s also a good idea to check the outside space size to see how much room your pet will have to play.
